Parking Lot Prayers

Sometimes there are experiences that I get to be a part of in life, and I really can’t explain why I get to be a part of them. But, it’s incredible when they happen. This is one of those times.

I am a big proponent of encouraging people to just be obedient to God, to do something that may not be understood by others, but, in that obedience, God shows up and does something amazing.

A few weeks back, several men, including myself, got together just to pray. And we’ve been encouraging people to drive through the parking lot of Venture and pray that God’s presence will be sensed and known by people who may be distanced from God. Pray for protection, pray for guidance for the leadership for Venture.

The last week has been very busy at the church, with kid’s camp and outreaches in the community and compassion trips and beach baptism blast, and I could go on and on and on.

What’s interesting is that during all of this activity, there was a sense of calm and decisiveness, a sense of peace and assuredness. Everyone was commenting on what a great couple of weeks it has been. And underneath all of it, I believe it’s because people were just relying on God because they were praying to Him and just speaking His heart, His way, and His life.

So, I’m encouraging people (and if you’re reading this and you don’t go to Venture you can apply this to your own church) but I’m encouraging people at Venture that when they are on M-59, do not just drive by the church at 50 miles per hour, but pull into the parking lot and just pray.

Pray that people in our church will be involved with those who are far away or who are hurt right now to invest in them and love on them, pray that our parking lot will be full of people and they will be open to God’s promptings and direction.

If the church is available, walk down some hallways and pray for children’s ministry and student’s ministry and our experiences on Sunday mornings. Maybe even walk around the building, one or two times, and pray for protection. Pray that people won’t get into the lures of culture vs. Christ.

Whatever is on your heart or your mind, call upon God. He will show up.
