You know, friends really can make the difference.
You’ve heard me talk about connectedness and community before and those I’m not backing down on that… it’s just that people who aren’t connected with other people just aren’t connected with themselves, life and purpose.
I’m not saying that you have to be a super social extrovert and around people all the time – but there are times when we need friends, friends who are in the trenches with you, they’re living life on purpose with you as you navigate struggles with confidence and courage. THOSE are special people to do life with.
This past weekend Jeanette and I went on the north west side of the state (near the Silver Lake Sand Dunes) and spent some meaningful, unbelievable, special time with two of our closest friends: Steve and Cathey.
These are the kind of people you just get energized being around. They’re real. They lead. They just do life in a way that’s so consistent with Christ yet they’re not fake. It appears we sharpen them and they sharpen us.
Proverbs 27:17: As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens a friend.
You know you’re really around friends when you leave and you’re left feeling like there JUST wasn’t enough time with them. Having fun, being refined, that’s the definition of a great weekend.
Friends at a deep, deep level are absolutely a gift and something to be cherished.
I had so much fun I didn’t even take any photos – this one is via Flikr!
