Livin’ on a prayer…

A few weeks ago I spoke about prayer and continue to get a lot of great feedback.

People thanked me for keeping it practical. Some said  the message helped change the way they pray.

For others, the feedback was uncomfortable. Some people told me they didn’t realize they had “dumb” prayers.

If you pray for God to be with us, it indicates what we believe about God. Those prayers mean you don’t believe God is always with you. God is not a spiritual Santa Claus.

Think about it. If your kids or a family member didn’t talk to you for months and then out of the blue asked for something big… or even several things. Based on your relationship with them, it may be something you’re happy to help with. But it’d be easier if you were in contact with them frequently.

But don’t get me wrong, we don’t pray to God to “get” something… we pray to ensure we keep our relationship growing!  He wants to get into a DAILY conversation with you not be a check on your list of to do’s for the week.

What are you doing to continue the conversation starting this week? What about right now?

As I shared with you yesterday, my experience at this year’s Leadership Summit was amazing, most specifically the talk from Mama Maggie Gobran, who is often called The Mother Theresa of Cairo. Even now, almost two months later, it remains one of the most spiritually impactful moments of my life.

Check out an excerpt here (at about 0:23 in).

Talk about someone who knows and lives with God deeply!
